Brief

Retail Directions retail management and point of sale software is used world-wide by many prominent retail organisations such as The Body Shop, Nike, GNC, Cotton On, Kookai and Just Jeans. Retail Directions (RD) engaged Alaress to develop an eCommerce website platform that was integrated directly with their retail management and point of sale application. The system was to be scalable, re-theme-able and re-deployable to their existing client base.

Solution

This project was no small challenge! Our team of application architects and developers hit the drawing board to assess how the solution would be developed. Working closely with a dedicated team within Retail Directions, Alaress designed the application architecture, documented the proposed application programming interface (API) to be developed by the RD team and made accessible to our eCommerce platform.

Alaress worked closely with RD's team to test, refine and develop the API. To enable access to the RD warehouse and head office management application, we designed and developed an eCommerce application that integrated with the API. The interface designs were kept minimal to ensure the re-usability of the application.

Results

Successful architectural design and documentation of an API and the development of a working integrated eCommerce application. Alaress continues to work with Retail Directions to deploy the application to their clients and to improve the solution.
